"Weapons Profiteering:
CANSEC Companies and their Part in Fueling Major Wars"

Friday, June 12, 7 pm
Southminister United Church

(15 Aylmer Ave., at Bank St. just south of the Rideau Canal)

Join us for this 30-minute Slide Show and talk by Richard Sanders

Richard Sanders, coordinator of the Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade (COAT), is an anti-war researcher and activist who was instrumental in the COAT campaign 20 years ago that secured Ottawa's ban on arms shows. Richard will use slides to highlight some of Canada's most profitable war industries and to show how their products contribute to wars now raging around the world.

This slide presentation will be followed by a discussion on the most effective means to counter the bogus claims by CANSEC organizers that their trade show is only about "defence," "security," promoting disaster relief and protecting "first responders."

In preparation for the June 15 Committee Meeting at Ottawa's City Hall!
Anyone interested in presenting a 5-minute brief to the City Council Committee meeting on June 15, will find it most useful to attend the June 12 slide show and discussion. However, even if you aren't preparing to give Councillors a piece of your mind on June 15, you'll find this slide show interesting and informative.
(Note, this City Hall meeting was originally scheduled for June 16, but was changed to June 15)

anti-CANSEC Music Video
On June 12, Richard will also show his first foray into music video production...  This three minute video juxtaposes the music by Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger with dozens of images illustrating the role of CANSEC exhibitors in war.  It was first shown at the Rally to Oppose Arms Shows on May 27.
