·      War doesn’t work – war does not have a good track record for solving problems

·      human rights (weapons used to violate rights and protect regimes that violate human rights)

·      democracy (weapons are used to overthrow governments and then keep them in place)

·      resource extraction (mining, oil, etc., a main function of these weapons is regime change and the maintenance of "business friendly" governments)

·      international development (providing for people's basic needs is made difficult by wars, and the regimes these wars empower)

·      community development

·      motherhood

·      youth perspective

·      economics (weapons industry is the least efficient way to create jobs; Govt should fund labour intensive sectors that are socially useful)

·      personal experience of living in a conflict zone
