CANSEC is Canada's largest WAR INDUSTRY trade show and this country's most blatant SYMBOL of the international arms trade. 

Join us at a large Peace Rally, June 2, 2010 (5-7 pm) outside the gates to CANSEC, at Lansdowne Park, 1015 Bank St., Ottawa.

Here are some of the events we are now planning:

• A large rally, Wed. June 2, between 5 and 7 pm, at the main entrance to CANSEC on Bank St.  This coincides with CANSEC's on site "black tie" dinner/reception.
• We will encourage non-violent direct actions (civil disobedience). Possible actions include a “die in” at the entrance to CANSEC, the hanging of a banner, picketing to slow CANSEC traffic, and other creative, peaceful, disciplined and nonabusive actions.
• A peaceful presence (with picketing and other creative, peaceful actions) at the main Bank St gate to the CANSEC arms bazaar between June 1-3, 2010.

Here are the general goals of COAT's CANSEC 2010 campaign:

(1) Encourage as many people as possible to participate in one single nonviolent event to focus our efforts to expose and oppose CANSEC,

(2) Encourage as many groups and individuals as possible to organize peaceful events and activities to expose and oppose CANSEC,

(3) Raise awareness and deepen analysis (about links between Canada’s arms industries and war) among members of the public and within activist community

(4) Build the peace/antiwar community

(5) Maintain a presence at the gates to CANSEC on June 2 and 3, and during their set-up day June 1.
