Toronto Action for Social Change
Toronto Action for Social Change (TASC) is a nonviolent
direct-action group which organizes actions focusing on systemic roots of
violence in our daily lives: sexism, militarism, poverty, corporate greed,
consumerism and institutions which seek to divide and rule by turning us against
one another and into mindless consumers.
TASC conducts training sessions in nonviolent resistance
across Ontario. Workshops are tailored to individual groups' needs, but include
everything from history and philosophy of nonviolence to medical, legal and body
protection preparation for direct action.
TASC publishes a bimonthly newsletter, The Long Arc,
detailing nonviolent resistance actions in Ontario, across Canada and around the
world. It shows the incredible power of nonviolent resistance to forge social
change and win us those rights which should be everyone's at birth and
throughout their lives.
TASC also publishes Resources for Radicals, an annotated
bibliography of books and periodicals (see pp. 30-31).
