Since February 24, 2005, when the government uttered its much-bally-hoed “no to missile defense,” we’ve been bombarded with references to the death of BMD in Canada. There was little or no effort to verify the truth of the government’s claim. Was there any concrete, practical meaning to the government’s PR?

The notion that Canada had stopped BMD dead in its tracks, instantly become the official line and was widely accepted as the gospel truth.

It remains the doctrine that we are expected to accept on faith.

A day has probably not gone by when the media did not repeat the myth that Martin put the nail in the coffin of “missile defense.”

It’s as if they bought obituary notices for all the Canadian media.
