Within six months about 3 and a half thousand Afghan
civilians had
been killed
by the U.S. air strikes.
And so, Afghanistan’s brutal warlords returned to
power.
In short, one set of fundamentalists (the Taliban) was
replaced with
another (the Northern Alliance).
