Afghanistan,
military
involvement in such development assistance work has actually done more harm than good.
For example, Canadians would be surprised to learn
that after 24 years in Afghanistan, MSF, one of the
biggest
charities in Afghanistan
–
with its 80 foreign volunteers and 14 hundred local staff –
took down their sign and left the country.
That was in 2004, after five Doctors-without-Borders
workers were killed
by Afghan
warlords.
