New COAT Research

Canada's Military Exports to the
Middle East and
North Africa

Inspired by popular revolutions and protests throughout the Middle East and North Africa, the Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade (COAT) has amassed a wealth of information on Canadian military exports to the region.  Using data culled from various government and industry sources, COAT has produced dozens of data tables exposing Canadian arms exports to the region.

For decades, Canadian governments -- Conservative and Liberal alike, while preaching peace and human rights -- have facilitated the steady flow of arms, ammunition, tear gas, battle vehicles, military explosives, and much much more, to numerous repressive, undemocratic governments in the Middle East, North Africa and elsewhere.  Canada is thus deeply complicit in aiding and abetting many U.S.-backed regimes that must rely on brute force to retain power.
