CMC Electronics Cincinnati

Located in Mason, Ohio, this firm makes “infrared detectors, imaging sensors, missile warning systems, space-launch vehicle products and spacecraft electronics.”

Since at least 1998 it has been a major subcontractor for electronic components in rockets used to test “missile defense” weapons systems. Between 1988 and 2004, it was owned by Canada’s CMC Electronics of Montreal, formerly known as the Canadian Marconi Company.

Between 1998 and 2004, it and its parent company were controlled by the Onex Corporation, Canada’s fourth biggest company.

Gerry Schwartz is the billionaire chairman, president and CEO of Onex (which still controls CMC Electronics). He was Paul Martin’s top fundraiser bringing in $11-million for his Liberal leadership campaign, including $4 million during a dinner in 2003 that CTV called “the largest political fundraiser in Canadian history.”
