Orbital and OrbImage

When the Liberal government privatised RADARSAT, MDA was wholly owned by a U.S. “missile defense”-rocket maker called Orbital Sciences.

David Emerson joined MDA's Board of Directors in 2000, when it was still owned by Orbital.

Another Orbital Sciences subsidiary (OrbImage) got the license to sell RADARSAT data to the Pentagon, the CIA and other US spy agencies.

Several of Orbimage’s top executives were retired Air Force officers whose careers had revolved around promoting "missile defense“ weapons programs. Another one, not shown here, was recruited from the CIA’s ranks

Each of the three OrbImage executives shown here started his BMD career during the Star Wars Reagan-era, when BMD was overseen by the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization.
