On the day after the government's empty "no" to BMD, this email went out to thousands of peace activists who had opposed Canada's involvement in BMD.

This email naively accepted the Liberal's word and actually urged activists to write congratulatory letters to the government to praise them for refusing to join missile defence.

With such support for the government's public relations campaign, well-meaning activists across Canada were duped.

They still are.

It was a self-inflicted death blow that brought to an end the peace movement's growing campaign against BMD in Canada.
